The October Newsletter for the Jackson Gallery Singers
Dear All, I have decided to write you all a note, as we all have such busy lives and I had lots to tell you all!
I will be in Jacksons this Friday 18th Oct from about 1.30 and hope we can practice Downtown and a few others.
On Friday 25th October the Wacapella choir are coming to do their choir session in the Jackson Gallery between 11 and 12.30 and would dearly like as many of us as possible to join them. (Carol from Jackson Gallery Singers and I sing with them). They would like to sing to us and then join in with us and eat cake and lunch and be merry.
Therefore, on Friday 25th October Jackson Gallery singers will be from 11am until 3pm. Singing, good company and nice food and drink. Hope to see you all at some point!
On Saturday 26th October at 11am, Portland Rotary have asked us to do a surprise flash mob in Easton. Nikki is currently organising a rehearsal space for 10am for half an hour in Easton. Come on Friday to hear more or contact Nikki.
We will meet during half term on Nov 1st and will then begin to plan two things for the festive season.
Jackson Gallery Singers have booked and paid to hire St John’s Hall on Saturday 7th December between 1pm and 3pm and will be welcoming in the community via posters, personal invitation and the Free Portland News, to come and join in the singing or listen and have a tea or coffee. Pam has offered to help serve the teas and coffees and my children have offered to eat any cakes that are donated! the idea is an informal singalong Christmas with light refreshments and also the opportunity for anyone who wants to, to add their own musical performance in a group or alone. For example, Julie and Nikki working on a short festive song. This will replace the singalong we did in the church last year. We have decided to do it in the afternoon, so that no one has to go home in the dark.
On the 18th December there may be a chance to stand together to sing a few festive songs by the Christmas Tree in Wren Court between 6 and 6.30. It has been advertised as a Festive Fortuneswell evening, so i thought I would go and do that if anyone wants to join me?
The 18th December will be the last event I will do with the Jackson Gallery Singers until the 10th January 2014, but if the cafe is open you can still meet. All of this is subject to change…but I am fairly certain of dates and times, so wanted you to know. Please spread the word! Nikki Fryer 🙂
